礦區主要由東西向壓性斷層及與之伴生的近南北向張性斷裂、北東和北西向扭性斷層組成。區內褶皺構造主要有金廠峪復背斜及崔堡子復向斜,并伴有次一級小的背、向斜。金廠峪金礦床位于前述的復背斜軸部。
控礦構造以北北東向壓扭性斷裂最發育,表現形式為片巖帶或片理化帶。礦區內共有6條,片巖帶的形態和交匯部位往往是控制單個礦體的主要構造。
礦區含金復脈帶是由石英脈、鈉長石英脈、鈉長石脈、次生石英巖等斷續分布于片巖帶中。長1500m、寬460~900m,在本礦床6個復脈帶中共圈出大小16個工業礦體。礦體多集中于Ⅱ、Ⅲ、Ⅳ帶中。以Ⅱ2、Ⅲ3、Ⅳ4礦體最富,Ⅱ5規模最大。金礦平均品位10.6g/t。
